Every believer meets dry seasons — stretches of the road when God seems silent and still. We pray and hear nothing; we wait and nothing seems to change. Finishing well means trusting God through those seasons all the way to the end. The Scriptures do not hide these moments; they show that even the faithful sometimes hear no voice and see no visible action from God — and that those seasons have a purpose. The great truth of this unit is simple: God's silence is not absence, and God's stillness is not inactivity.

I. Los Tiempos de Sequía Son RealesI. The Dry Seasons Are Real

Even faithful people walk through valleys where God seems far away. For Israel there were roughly four centuries, between the prophet Malachi and the coming of Christ, without a new prophetic word recognized as Scripture — the period conventionally called the "four hundred silent years," though the years themselves were far from historically empty, filled with real upheaval, literature, and the developments that shaped the world Jesus was born into. Many must have wondered whether God had forgotten them. He had not; He was preparing the world for His Son. The psalmist cried, "How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?" (Psalm 13:1, NKJV). Elijah, fresh from his great victory on Mount Carmel, collapsed in despair under a juniper tree (1 Kings 19). These dry seasons are not proof that God has left us; they are part of the journey of faith. Silence is not absence, and stillness is not inactivity.

II. Cuando Dios Parece CalladoII. When God Seems Silent

When heaven seems quiet, remember first that God has already spoken. "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son" (Hebrews 1:1–2, NKJV). We often crave a fresh word when the foundational word — His Word in Scripture, and supremely in Christ — has already been given. Sometimes His silence is simply beyond us: God answered Job not with explanations but with questions, "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?" (Job 38:4, NKJV). And God often speaks softly — not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in "a still small voice" (1 Kings 19:12, NKJV). So He says, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10, NKJV). Silence also matures our faith, "for without faith it is impossible to please Him" (Hebrews 11:6, NKJV); if every prayer were answered with thunder, there would be no room left for faith.

III. Cuando Dios Parece QuietoIII. When God Seems Still

When Lazarus was sick, "Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was" (John 11:5–6, NKJV). The delay was not indifference; it set the stage for resurrection. Paul pleaded three times for his thorn to be removed, and the Lord answered, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9, NKJV). Even our Lord prayed in Gethsemane, "not as I will, but as You will" (Matthew 26:39, NKJV). God's apparent stillness is never idleness; while we wait, He is preparing both the answer and our hearts. "Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you... Blessed are all those who wait for Him" (Isaiah 30:18, NKJV).

IV. La Perseverancia: Correr hasta la MetaIV. Perseverance: Running to the Finish

Because the road has dry stretches, the Christian life calls for endurance. "Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith" (Hebrews 12:1–2, NKJV). The testing of our faith is not wasted: "the testing of your faith produces patience... that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing" (James 1:3–4, NKJV). And so we are told, "let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9, NKJV). Perseverance is not a way of earning God's favor; it is leaning on His sustaining grace one step at a time.

V. Terminar BienV. Finishing Well

The goal is not merely to begin but to finish. At the end of his life Paul could say, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness" (2 Timothy 4:7–8, NKJV). Yet our confidence to finish is not in our own strength to endure but in God's faithfulness to complete what He began: "He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6, NKJV). The same grace that saved us will keep us to the end. We who belong to Christ are held fast by Him — and that is why we can pass through the silent and the still seasons without losing heart.

When God seems silent, trust the Word He has already spoken. When God seems still, trust His timing and His sufficient grace. He has not forgotten you; behind the silence and the stillness is a God who sees, who cares, and who is always working — even when we cannot see it. Lift your eyes to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, and run on. The One who began the good work in you will surely complete it. So do not lose heart — finish well.
